Benny, that certainly makes more sense than dirt and compaction.

Grizzly Mama, I would actually assume that after they compact dirt and install additional drainage, there will be some form of a bridge there. Otherwise, they would need literally tons and tons of fill to build the mountain back up.

If they do it right, and provide sufficient drainage, gabion style welded wire contained on site soils would work and be a lot cheaper.

But, the volume of water coming down the hill would need to be built into the design.

Those corregated metal pipes do not appear to be sufficient

A question, and maybe WAY off base, but...

Would a bridge in that 38 damaged space be faster/less expensive/better, than compacting that much ground to put back a road?

Re Hwy 38, I see no structural support.

Merely removing landslide debris.

Maybe they will key something in, but those photos are not impressive regarding repair

CAJON PASS VEG FIRE
Okay, we are on scene. We do have a confirmed vegetation fire. Locations will be just north of Blue Cut. I'd like to go in and continue the resources. The fire is in about a quarter acre, with the moderate of spread. We do have potential for 10 acres. In addition, the engineer 33 will be assuming IC.
