The answer is yes, you need to carry chains. It does not matter if your car is 4x4, all wheel drive, or whatever “Snow Mode” is. The weather in the mountains is very unpredictable and can change at any time.

MAJOR INCIDENT WRIGHTWOOD
WRIGHTWOOD: Battalion Chief 141 has assumed #WRIGHTWOODIC for heavy debris flows & flooding. Hwy 2 is impassible. Requesting 3 additional engines, hand crews, dozer & swift water rescue unit. #SBCoFD Crews are assisting with evacuating homes that are being immediately impacted.

IFGCA I have not heard of any major power outages, but someone here might have more info.

Wooly, along with the possible ticket, if you are involved in an accident, it's like a rear end deal, you are auto at fault. Best to just keep them in until March.
