I have to say that we have been very fortunate over the last few years with our owners doing thier due diligence in vetting their renters. We have had only two 866-CODE calls since the permit process was inacted. First one was for a property that wasn't even ours to watch over and the other was for animals getting into trash that the neighbors were nice enough to leave behind a couple of weeks previously. What was really strange is I got this call while the valley was shut down and there were no renters to watch over. I was informed at that time by the city that being the registered 24/7 reponse person meant just that. I was on duty 24/7, even when the cabin was dark. Wow, I had not been aware of that little requirement. Of course, it made sense being called because a trashcan on the property was dumping trash into the forest areas. I need to raise my monthly fees if on the hook even when cabins are dark.

After reading a few posts from @Spice-guy in the “Chat Box” about his issues with a long term rental across the street from him, I feel the need to respond and to clarify a few items. I do understand that there are some bad “tenants” and “problem rentals” but for us, this has not been the case with the “Nevada Frat” as he called them. We have been up here since June 15th. We have direct line of sight to what they do as well as being able to hear what goes on. I will give my take on what we’ve observed:
1 - they did not start occupying the house until after mid-July. This means that when they check out at the end of August they will have been in there 1 1/2 months - not the 3 months you mentioned. They have rented another house, besides this one, over by Meadow Park where some of them stay at night…Not all 10 are in the house by you. 2 - they have never been out filming and practicing any later than 10pm. Most nights it’s been even earlier. Are they loud? Sometimes, but this is for filming purposes and doesn’t last long. They are into their craft and rest is very important to them. I will say, that before they rented this house, there was a family that rented it for a couple weeks prior and around the 4th of July. At times, they were using the jacuzzi until 1am. I have heard many other groups who have rented other homes in the area around us, out late and making noise. However, this group has never been making noise at 3:30am! 3 - they do have tents set up. Some of this is for filming purposes, which if you’ve watched their videos as you said you have, you would know this. I have seen tents set up in several backyards, including some in Eagle Point Estates. It’s nice to come up to the mountains and sleep in a tent, even if it’s in a backyard, wouldn’t you agree? 4 - they did go to the lot next door to practice their craft. However, you indicated that they hung ropes from the trees and did tree climbing. What they did is set up tight ropes around the base of the trees, to practice tight rope skills. I have seen other neighbors do this as well at other house. Do you complain when kids ride their bikes though the lot or when people use it for snow sledding? 5 - they asked us when they first got here, that if they get too loud to let them know. They had mentioned putting on a show for the neighbors in the area. I think that after hearing what you have to say about them along with the feed back from other users on here, they may have changed their minds. It would have been nice to grab a mask, social distance with a lawn chair and watch them. They are a very talented and respectful group. Maybe you could go over there and talk with them instead of leaving it to the sheriff? BTW, the first time the sheriff went over, they asked the group to show them what it is that they do. After seeing a brief show, the sheriff’s were fine with it and left. 6 - the scaffolding that they built is up to code. 7 - there have been a couple of neighbors, myself included, who have baked things for them, gone to the side yard and handed it to them over the fence. They have been so grateful. Parents have brought their kids over to watch and ask questions. Each time, they have welcomed them and answered their questions without hesitation. 8 - One final comment on a statement you made calling them “Nevada Frat”. You are incorrect. This group comes from many different states, but mainly California.
In closing, they are out of work acrobats and gymnasts because of the pandemic and only wanted a way to keep their chops up and produce some video content to show they world how they are coping and surviving these unprecedented times. You have done such a disservice to them, yourself and all others who have read your “half-truths” about this group.
Hey I'm glad you like them. MAYBE my time line is off a bit but, Code Enforcement told us they had a 3 month term that was up at the end of August. They called US with that information. They were making way too much noise until 3AM on more than one occasion when they first moved in. My son recorded it. They state on their Instagram account, "TEN acrobats living in ONE house." The house has a 7 person limit so please be careful about throwing around the term "half truths" The house also has a 3 car limit. Where were you when they had a dozen cars lining the street? Backyard campouts are great! Unless it's because there is no more room in the house to sleep. ...to be continued...

Perhaps your son recorded noise from another house. As I mentioned, we’ve been here since June 15th and NEVER, since they’ve been here, have they ever been loud late at night. I don’t believe I said anything in my post about the parking of the cars, but since you’ve brought that up again, they’ve been talked to by the sheriff about this and since, have done better. In your reply to my post, it mentions that they will be here 3 months end of August because that’s what you were told. If you had really been paying attention you would have known yourself that it wouldn’t be 3 months come end of August because you would have observed all those dozens of cars lined up on the road way before mid July when they first arrived. Seems like you may have mixed up previous tenants with this group. I have to ask, if you’ve had issues with noise at 3am, why didn’t you call the sheriff then? I know that this group have asked you to come over and talk with them and you have declined. Also, what about those dangerous drinking games you said they were doing? This is not true. They aren’t even drinkers! If you saw on one of their YouTube videos, which was filmed here, they had red solo cups set up on top of the trampoline wall and having a contest on who could get the most ping pong balls in the cups after bouncing back up from the trampoline. Thats’s it! No booze was involved! I can see where it may have looked like a drinking game to you, but again, all it takes is some communication on your part. By chance, did you see the nice article on this group in The Grizzly yesterday? It provided a nice perspective and insight into this group and what they’d like to give back to Big Bear. As far as half truths, well...

Are you serious? My son recorded noise from another house? Never been loud late at night? That's where you are wrong. I'm done with this conversation. Almost... To read your lengthy posts one might think you have more than a sympathetic interest in this group. Listen, I am sympathetic towards anyone of the thousands of people that are out of work right now. The fact that your circus friends are out of work does not make them special. Sorry, that's just the way I feel about it.

Let me be very clear with you, no vested interest here. I just don’t like when things are said about ANYONE to sway others to a point of view that isn’t fair or entirely correct. You ask “where have I been” and it’s been right here since June 15th. I too am finished with this.

OK, the issue of the string is not fight amongst ourselves but to help those that do have a problem with some suggestions and proceedures and for the newbies to get some good information up front before hand. I believe we can all agree that complaint proceedures were followed here and somewhere the process broke down leaving a bunch of people just hanging and hoping a bad situation will solve itself. So the proceedure has been followed, some avenues of recourse have been discussed. Time to move on and not beat the issue to death. At some time we have all dealt with an unwelcomed vacation rental, or even a visiting family. No need to beat each other up over it is there??
All my cabins are opened for arrivals, spas turned up and heating and front porch lights are on, just waiting for the idiots to arrive. Everyone have a tolerable weekend

When they pull stupid and bonehead acts that endanger people and property, I have. And I have told a few after traveling up here in some of the worst possible conditions putting thier family at risk to get back into thier family SUV and get the HELL off my mountain if they can't respect it any better than that. After telling them to stay home, they have a 12 hour trip up from San Bernardino, kids are sick, cold, starving. I get a phone call of why are there 3 mexicans in my driveway, told him i had told him to stay home, couldn't even get to the cabin, the mexicans were neighbors helpinging out. That is followed by call not requesting, demanding that someone come over (again, can't get to the cabin) and take the snow off the roof because if it comes down it will scare his wife. I was wrong but I completely lost it right then and there. Interesting fact, they stayed another 4 days without leaving the cabin and no calls for help, we didn't clear the roof and I kept them as a client for another 17 years after. And they never doubted my stay at home requests ever again. I don't make them lightly. I don't like the vacationers but will deal with them as I do like my clients. What these 'idiots' forget is when they do end up in the ditch, over the side of the mountain, in the side door of some other poor schlub, it puts a lot of our valuable first responders in unnecessary risk just because someone didn't think past thier nose or wallet. These people weren't even losing a deposit. I don't see that as intelligence.
Does anyone know what CalTrans is up to now? K-rails and water barrel end caps on two obscure places- on 38 north of Erwin Ranch Rd and on the blvd wrst of Snow Play? Why?
