Weather permitting, people across California may have an opportunity to see a manned spacecraft reentry early Thursday (January 15) at 12:30 AM.
The primary landing opportunity is at approximately 12:40 a.m. PST in the ocean west of San Diego. The craft will approach from the northwest and could resemble a slow-moving meteor for observers from north of San Francisco to Ventura County. The craft may also produce a sonic boom as it parallels the coast before splashdown, which will not be audible in our area, just near the coast.
Its really simple. You are not in a hurry, we are. Please take a couple of seconds, when it is safe, to pull over and let us by. But, don't do be like the person this morning that pulled over at the beginning of a blind curve, on a shoulder that is about 3 feet wide. If you are trying to play CHP, you are making it more dangerous by frustrating the driver(s) behind you. I have seen some crazy stuff b/c someone wouldn't pull over.
This is a crack up. Moved the family up here 1990. First weekend reading Grizzly letter to editor is about a local explaining how when his headlights were in your backseat it was time to use a turnout. Some things just never change.
Kenai i totally agree w you. Can’t count the times we’ve been stuck behind someone who doesn’t seem to read the SLOWER TRAFFIC USE TURNOUT SIGNs,, last week we were stuck behind someone all the way for Runnimg Springs to lower passing lane. 20/30 cars behind him! He sped up on the straightaways and middle passing lane. Finally got around him at the lower passing lane by using the slow lane… Had to really get it. What morons!
Reading about all the newer vehicle failures makes me glad i insist on older vehicles with a manual tranny, CVT transmissions or touchscreen flummery need not apply...

interesting tidbit, but seeing all the new vehicles going really fast uphill; our mechanic says that flooring ot in a vehicle with a cvt uphill takes over 1000 miles of life off of the transmission for every mile going full throttle up the hill. New big truck transmissions also no longer are able to withstand the heat soak of gears and bearings and sees new(er)vehicles all the time with burned out transmissions. We drive vintage 4x4 suburbans and every time going up the hill keep an eagle eye on the tranny pil temp, and pull over if it gets to 220 degrees. Driving max 35-40 mph to keep temps below that warnong line, so of course we have gotten real good at always letting folks pass every turnout.
