Oct 17 : 06:05pm By the by. Just received our Property Tax Bill. Don’t mind just make it so we can use the services.
Deborahavas Oct 17 : 06:04pm Open letter to BBCSD Hoping that Big Bear City will enact a new area where those of us who can’t use the new trash bins because of being part-timers and not wanting to leave it out from Sunday to Tuesday for animals to tip can use when we leave to drop off our trash in a safe place. Especially since we are paying for it on our taxes and only use it occasionally Please just a thought. Transfer station put some dumpsters out front for easier drop off or the main office could have some dumpsters for us to use Thanks Deborah Herrera

I got my tax bill last week and was looking over all the added bonds etc. that are tacked onto it and noticed that there was a $266 refuse fee. Great, so as a part timer, not only do I have to pay $40 a month for something I use half a dozen times a year but I have to pay an additional $266 on top of it, but wait, there’s more. Now, instead of being able to put out up to 4 cans of house hold trash and 12 bags of yard trash I can only put out 1 bin which means I will have to spend even more money to rent a truck or a CSD bin, or hire someone to pick up all my yard needles and pinecones.... I think the big revolt will come in the spring when people start the annual spring cleaning of their yards and homes and realize how absurd this new plan is. Hopefully they realize it and continue to pick up yard trash separately....

This is probably no longer relevant, but I happened to be looking out the window yesterday when the belching CSD trash-collection machine rolled up. There was a guy standing on the side of the front hopper, as there always has been. He stepped off his perch, reached down into the new, mandated monster receptacle, grabbed the bags inside and pitched them into the hopper, just as he always has. I guess they got tired of the new system slowing everything down and having to work in the dark.
When we have been rate-increased to fund a new fleet of computer-controlled trash collection machines, perhaps efficiency will improve, but have my doubts. Efficiency is the antitheses of properly run government.

Funny they have lost the eyes on the discards, perhaps an inferred heat detector could be installed on the arm to inspect the contents. Going to miss Motherspaw, he would stop and pick up the elderly peoples trash from the sides of their homes, Small town living style but too personal for the new Improved CSD style Snip it from [Click Here] This Article Brought To by Mountain Reporter- : Formatic Property Management Sugarloaf
At 11:48 AM October 28th a CSD employee called 911 to report Smoke coming from the bed of his trash truck. The truck was located at 417 Sunset Lane in Sugarloaf. The call was cancelled stating the fire was out. Medic engine 283 continued response and arrived on scene to find the trash truck still smoldering. Fire Fighter Bidwell climbed up on the back of the truck and immediately started putting water on it with the help of Captain Jayne. The fire was knocked down in less then 5 Minutes. CSD supervisor arrived on scene and advised the driver to drive to dump station to dump load. The fire department offered to follow truck to make sure there wasnt any active fire. Big Bear Fire department would like to remind visitors and residents hot ashes are not to be thrown in dumpsters. Ashs can remain hot for several days and mixed with trash can cause a devastating outcome.
Well, let me tell ya something, it is absolute hell for me! We have two efficient wood burning fireplaces. They are used from early in the morning until we go to bed at night. There is a lot of ash and coal left over. After a week we have 6, five gallon metal cans that need to be dumped. Each can gets watered down then dumped into another can with a bag liner. You should see me lugging these soaked and very heavy ashes to the trash bin and hucking them into it. The darn thing is almost as tall as me, probably going to need shoulder surgery in a couple months from it! They take up most of the space in the bin where our “trash” is supposed to go! I get that they no longer want to pick up all the bags of goat poo but this is ridiculous! I just don’t get why they will not pick up SOAKED ash cans. It would be so much safer! (and easier for me)😁 Then again, I guess it is not about me. Must be about CSD!

So at the clean BB site (west) which has specific bins for ashes, the cleaning people ( it's on a Monday, that's when they work ) can't follow the rules. Not quite related to the BBC trash transition, but it just shows you human nature. You can divide the world into two kinds of people: Those who divide the world into two kinds of people and those who don't!
If a door closes, open it. It's a door, that's how they work.

Had to stop by Big Bear Disposal today so asked the girls if there was any plans for BBD to go the route of the big brown trash cans. All three of them busted a gut laughing so hard. Said that they were a little smarter than that even at corporate level . They had to kick a big bear city resident out of the clean bear site yesterday. Showed up with his brand new big brown trash can to dump it because CSD didn't take it this time for some reason and then tried to convince site personnel that he was from Big Bear Lake
