HUH...., Naaaa Your to far from my house............... I think ???? Although I have had alittle problem around here with the amp on. One day a neighbor across the street came over to my house to let me no that his P.C. speakers were pickin up my transmissions. Thats happened acouple times. I try not to turn the amp on when he is home. I have to turn my speakers off also. The people next to me were telling me that sometimes there TV acts weird? I stayed silent on that one. I only use the amp when I need to. Some of these guys are running up to 1500 watts. You can hear them good but without an amp sometimes they cant hear you. I did have a case last weekend. This guy was running 1000 watts. He copied me 5 9 and I was only running 100 watts. So you dont know how much power you need. I always start at 100. This mans call sign is JA2FJP. For you who dont know. JA call signs are in Japan. Yes, I am very concerned. He lives close to the ocean back in a bay. I hope He Is OK. I will try to get ahold of him in the future. Im sure sence the quake he has alot to take care of right now.

I am, and so is one of my kids. The other kids and some of the grandkids could easily be licensed, but aren't. My Dad was, but he's dead. My son got his call through the vanity system. My first call was W3HAM, which I got when I was 14, which was a long long time ago. I took the test at the FCC office in D.C. Cool, huh?

I'm still active, but not a big talker.
Used to belong to the BB club, but for some reason let it lapse. Never attended a meeting.
Radios to cover pretty much all bands except 900, 1296, ... then pick up again at 10GHz. Some duplication of stuff I consider critical, especially HF and the 2m, 70cm stuff.
Probably one of the dwindling number who can still use CW effectively. Speaking of which, love your call: SKN => Straight Key Night. KA6ROD here. Only work CW except the BBARC repeater up here. First licensed in 1965. If anyone wants to learn CW or practice CW let me know, I love it and love to promote it.

BC, Sounds like your setup quite well. My call sign is not a vanity call. The FCC gave me this one. When they got to my license ap. That was the next set of letters that came up. A great call for a CW operator. But I have not learned Morse Code.
ROD, Lookin forward to shootin clays with you again this year. Mike(KJ6HZS) and I had a great time last year. I want to see your new clay thrower.

Hi everyone - I'm Stacey KF6PRU and hubby John is KF6OUI. John is active on Ham but shamefully, I am not. John belongs to MESAC at home in Costa Mesa (Mesa emergency services amateur communications). We have a ICOM 2800, I believe it is, at home and a Kenwood TH79 for the handheld. We are looking at getting 2 new handhelds, maybe I'll become more active. We'd love to get involved with hams up here in Big Bear too, although we are only weekenders. Keep us in mind if you guys are going to do a get together. Also John is a dirt bike rider on the trails up here and is always looking for riding partners..........just puttin it out there.

What the heck... I'll bump this old thread to get the conversation going again.
K6RBK here. Mostly lurk here & on K6BB; do a lot of simplex around the valley with my neighbors here in Sugarloaf. I recognize most of the calls in the this thread, and hear HZS & SKN all the time.
After 11 years as a ham I finally have a place to put up my antennas now that we've moved to Big Bear (almost a 1.5 years ago now, can't imagine going back to the flatlands)!
