Airport Razz1 day(s) ago I believe technically frost line 18". Water lines should be down 2-3ft min depending on material and location. In years past while replacing main water line, freeze line around 12" and the backhoe was picking up.the entire yard in one piece. Small digging hammer from Twin Bear 👍
Trail Rider1 day(s) ago Mountainart, my husband said when he worked for BBC CSD in the 80s, they buried all of their water lines 4 ft down. He doesn't recall the the historical freeze depth.
mountainart1 day(s) ago does anyone know how many inches deep the frozen layer of ground has ever historically been? Where we are building in south bbc behind the airport, the ground is solid frozen down about 3 inches. literally need a jackhammer to go through top ice, almost as hard as a cconcrete driveway....whew!!!
BootsNBridles1 day(s) ago Came up 38 late evening. Maybe 8 cars on the road total to to bottom. So nice. Only incident was something on the steep winding part just below south fork. Tow truck, CHP, couple of vehicles. Quick glance made me think either one of the vehicles over corrected and ended up in the large rocks at the side of the road or they avoided the other vehicle and ended up there. Rocks were 1-2 ft diameter. Ouchie for the vehicles!
