I have the Political incorrect Cherokee ZJ lifted 33s it works ok, has AC, Beer Holder, Automatic, paint you don’t care about scratching perfect for the mountain, no one wants to steal it, or park near it.

Yeah it's a JK. I bought in January after my other car just did not do well in the snow. If I knew how to stick an image link in here, I'd share a picture.
bullet Skyline Drive on Tuesday 21 July 2020 - 14:36:48
SO it is a JK with solid axle they are great you can get travel kits with 12 inches of travel, the tires will fall out Just take your wallet and go to Hammer Town in March

Doo
The tranny issue was that I flooded it. E&R found the drive shaft was exposed and rusted out and will need to be replaced eventually but they rebuilt it for now and sealed everything up so it doesnt happen again.
bullet AmpersandXVII on Tuesday 21 July 2020 - 14:15:44
Skyline & doohickey I have a 2011 2 door wrangler, orange soft top. Previous owner put a poison spyder stinger on it and 4 inch lift, but left tiny little street tires on it. I'm planning on getting a set of Nitto Trail Grapplers on it. Been looking into winches and CB radios after getting stranded with no cell service. Gonna swap out the headlights for something a bit brighter too. The top needs to be replaced as well because all the zippers are broken and the window panels are cloudy and hard to see out of since it lived at the beach before I got it. I wont lie, my 8 year old begged for Jurassic Park stickers and those are on the way haha.

The best part of wheeling is not to have the best but to do it with what you have, it’s a lot more fun with an open diff and 33 going past the $$ lockers with the 42 better to have a bit of fight. Tell us bout your jeep. Try these nice little runs; drive down to Seven Oaks off the backside for a burger, Green Valley Lake via Holcomb creek for malt. Papas and Harriet’s through Rose mines for a beer. Get some seat time.

bullet AmpersandXVII on Tuesday 21 July 2020 - 10:37:48
Thanks for the tips! My very first trip out I did actually get stranded when my transmission failed out at Wilbur's Grave. Long story short, previous owner did not take care of the jeep and I inherited all the problems. It was mid week but someone did come by after a couple hours. Really nice guys. Ended up getting towed out by Big Bear Off Road Recovery. Learned a few good lessons the hard way that day. I'll check out Fawnskin Market. I have been meaning to get some better maps!

clarification: if you get stuck solo, and you're fortunate enough to have a passerby come by who doesn't have winch, the tow strap may suffice
bullet McToddy on Tuesday 21 July 2020 - 09:47:52
+1 for "4wheeler code is to leave no one stranded"

BTW: you can get a cheap portable air compressor at harbor freight. Also, pick up a tow strap for ~$30. Not as good as a winch, but better than nothing. Especially if you get stuck solo and just need someone to pull you from something annoying like a high center. Other tips: beware of sharp rocks. If the trail goes narrow on you, don't be lazy -- get out and walk the trail ahead to make sure you don't over commit on something you can't back out

AmpersandXV11, welcome to the world of 4 wheeling, it`s a great activity for all ages. As Skyline mentioned, there are some trails you`ll want to "work up tp" while most are no problem for stock jeeps. The Fawnskin market sells maps that show trails and difficulty levels, every 4 wheeler should have at least a couple maps.If you do go out alone (not advised,) stick to the weekends as the trails are well traveled and help will be near. 4wheeler code is to leave no one stranded, you`ll find most very helpful and eager to share their knowledge .
Almost forgot (you probably know this) air down to aprox 22psi for added traction and ride comfort. You will learn to fine tune psi as you gain experience and don`t forget to air up when you get back to the hwy. You can google best off road air compressors.
Don`t forget plenty of water, some snacks and a full size spare in case you get stranded....so much to learn ..lol

It can be a long walk home and the Auto Club does not go out there. Mr. Toads is on the south shore for bicycles Gold Mountain is fun great views John Bull has two parts an East and West, the West has a gate keepers to stop most stock jeeps, John Bull going east is easy going East. Don’t go Wheeling alone.

Just want to give a shout out to the boat repair shop at Pine Knot Landing. I tweaked my prop on a shoal Monday night and was missing the hub for my spare prop. They got us back on the water with fast, friendly service at a fair price. They were truly a great help.

Just the single GFIC receptacle for the pipe heater cables. You shouldn't run tapped off the 220v due to the unequal leg amperage to the well pump. Unstable, from what I've heard.
