Bowfishing

Hello,

My son and I are getting into Bowfishing. This might not be the best time with the Algae bloom. I went out the last three mornings and didn't see much from shore. Any tips as to where to shoot from shore? I walked around Grout bay, and saw some jumping way out, but nothing close to shore. I went to the dam and saw nothing. I walked up Stanfield cutoff, and around to the launch facility, and saw some dead ones, but nothing alive.

Maybe it's the wrong time? Thanks for any tips.

i see people bow hunting in the spring, when the carp spawn in the shallows.

I've always seen it done standing in a boat; might be hard from shore.

Never got into bowfishing but we speared a lot of them when we were kids...back of metcalf or grout, wear some old shoes and go walking in the shallows. Youll see pathways through the weeds, walk quietly and set up by these paths. Theyll come alomg the pathways. Suggest just walking along and exploring it first...

I know that during the spawn you can throw a rock at them at Ski Beach, next to Meadow Park.

Thank you for the responses. I think it's just the wrong time of year. Might have to wait until spring.

I might try tomorrow off a friend's dock, and then pack it up until spring.
