We got a turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy and a green bean casserole. For dessert we are doing a no-bake pumpkin Twinkie pie.

Same! But there are lots of keto stuffing recipes. We used some chompies low carb bread. It was not bad. Definitely scratched the itch to have some stuffing on the table.

Anyone have an opinion on store bought Turkey (Butterball etc) vs a free range, no hormone, no antibiotic, no gmo feed?
Menu will be Turkey, prime rib, lobster mac and cheese, truffle cheese mashed potatoes and gravy, roasted brussel sprouts with bacon, sausage dressing, and pecan pie. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

Wow for that meal I would like to reserve a seat if you are not at your max! I have used Butterball for so long I don't remember anything else. I have never been disappointed. Buy early. They may be hard to find at this date. If you buy frozen allow more then asked for defrosting time in the fridge. As for range free and other mentioned healthy items, I would not worry if you are having all the other items such as mac n cheese bacon etc. It is one day of the year. Enjoy your Thanksgiving. No matter all that is going on we still have so much to be thankful for.

There have been a bunch of taste tests done over the years: organic, natural, frozen, etc.

What is the biggest difference is that a “natural” labeled turkey has not been injected with a salt solution (brine). Turkeys that have the salt solution should not be further treated with salt.

The biggest surprise was that a frozen turkey cooked properly was indistinguishable from fresh.

So it’s more about preference (do you care about hormones and GMO?) budget ($0.99 or $3.99 per lb) and availability..

What I’ve been doing lately is to cook two or three smaller birds (12 lb) vs, a giant. 20 lb

Your menu is awesome. Now I am hungry.

We use Butterball also, comes out great everytime. Mashed taters, gravy, sweet potato casserole, WILD rice stuffing (my fav), regular stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce. Desert? Pumpkin pie cheesecake and pecan pie. Also a Hungarian apple pastry called Almas Pita. All homemade except the cranberry, I am the only one that likes the homemade stuff, maybe I will make a little batch. Wife cooks the savory with my help and I am the baker.

Next day, grilled turkey sandwiches on sourdough, with bacon, avocado, swiss cheese and a green chili. So so good.

These menus awesome wonderful! I also have used butterball turkeys for years, I do a traditional turkey and my husband is a fried turkey for the marinade for beer and butter and a bunch of spices. We also have mashed potatoes and gravy, corn bread dressing, green beans with bacon, pecan crunch topping sweet potatoes, sweet potato these menus all sound wonderful! I also have used butterball turkeys for years, I do a traditional baked turkey and my husband does a fried turkey have a marinade for beer and butter and a bunch of spices. We also have mashed potatoes and gravy, corn bread dressing, green beans with bacon, pecan crunch topping sweet potatoes, sweet potato Mollo marshmallow roasted Brussel sprout salad, fresh Canberry relish and canned cranberry sauce but doesn’t like it. I usually make a big green Italian salad to cut all the grease! Then for dessert we have pumpkin pie, and pumpkin bread pumpkin bread is homemade but we have been buying a pumpkin pies from Costco not worth the hassle baking in big bear. Almost forgot that we also have Hawaiian sweet rolls with homemade pomegranate wine which is good enough to do it!

I'm going to tag-team two 12 lb turkeys this year: one in the oven and the other on the Weber. Both birds are being dry-brined now..

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! There's a lot to be bitter about in 2020 no doubt, but let's all be thankful for today. For the loved ones at our table, and the loved ones who we can't be with. I'm thankful despite the current political climate and the rise if covid-19, today, my family and I still live in the greatest country on the planet. Remember my friends, libations, politics, and family don't always mix lol. Enjoy everyone.

For the first time in memory, I did not spend the day cooking. Made a batch of cranberry sauce for the moose lodge dinner tonight. My bride made a pecan pie.. but the kitchen is clean and the dishwasher is taking a break tonight. Happy thanksgiving.
