Can you recommend a nice place to dine to celebrate an anniversary? Preferably not full of kiddos. And I love kids and have 4 but you know what I mean.

We used to love North Shore Cafe but took it off our list. Took guests there one night and our meals all tasted & looked like they had been re-heated. Another time the service was so bad we waited over an hour and a half for our server to 1. take our order, 2. bring the salads & 3. bring the main course. We had so many good meals there over the years so kept hoping these were just kinks that needed to be sorted out but the last time we ate there we once again had to wait for over 30 minutes for our server to take our order & then another 45 for our meals. Once again the food was not up to previous standards so we have never gone back. It may be a better choice for breakfast or lunch than dinner.

Oakside is wonderful as is Peppercorn. Both have excellent service and wonderful well prepared food. Just be sure to make reservations!

Is Chef Richard still running North Shore Cafe? Any restaurant can have an off night for a variety of reasons. We have never had a bad experience there for either breakfast or dinner.

Peppercorn is the best. We have had many wonderful meals there. Top notch! Excellent service!

We celebrate ours at Sweet Basil every year! Small, intimate, usually only adult diners. Good wine selection too.

We hadn't been to The Pines for quite a while. Just went a few days ago & it was great! Excellent food, presentation & service. Definitely not inexpensive, but perfect for a special occasion or "just because".

We concur on Sweet Basil for food and service - based on a lunch and a dinner this past week. The wine selection list is not very lengthy - I recommend the Conundrum White Blend and the Red Blend - reasonably priced, mellow, they go with practically everything - the White would overpower sand dabs but meshed(?) well with the "Shrimp and Grits" (garlicky shrimp / polenta combo) - the Red Blend went well with the filet mignon stuffed with Gorgonzola.
One person handling the front (seating, waiting table, bar-tending, cashiering, bussing, etc.) was at times a tiny bit stretched on a Thursday night) (and that's without the telephone ringing!). We've not been there on a Holiday weekend - hope fully there are two working the front. Pleasant environment, no kids running around, good food, a bill without the Pine Knot Street ground rent mark-ups, etc. - go for it!
