We are having a traditional menu! If I change it my husband might believe me! We have roasted turkey, fried turkey, ham, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, sweet potatoes with crunchy pecan crust, green beans with bacon, mashed potatoes with gravy, roasted Brussel sprouts with pomegranate seed, stuffing corn bread stuffing, Hawaiian sweet rolls, pomegranate wine jelly, pumpkin pie, Hersheys syrup cake, red velvet cake, and a dessert inherited from my grandmother called Angels the light

Those of you who are just boiling the Brussel Sprouts, use broth...not water. What a difference!

Nona, from your menu description, I gather that you are inviting SCM over?

Standard dinner here in Fullerton, we tend to follow tradition. Since it’s warm outside I prefer to cook the turkey in my Weber. Gives more oven capacity.

My bride makes a fabulous pecan pie. We just picked up 2 pumpkin pies and two loafs of fresh sourdough from Polly’s Pies.

What are your favorite memories of Thanksgiving? One of mine: snow storm at White Water Ranch below Gorgonio at my great-aunt Catherine’s place...

Blessings everyone.. Happy Thanksgiving.

Will get 1st turkey in smoker with applewood chips and 2nd turkey in oven later.

We wet-brined our turkey for the first time ever, Done brining, rinsed, patted dry and in fridge to dry out some. Supposedly this method will yield crispy skin. Love deep-fried but don't have a deep frier and changing it up some. Killer mashed potatoes, yams with a butterscotch brandy butter/brown sugar sauce topped with pecans, green bean casserole (of course), homemade cranberry sauce, home-made gravy, home-made pumpkin pie, killer sausage/wild rice stuffing, creamed corn, hot rolls daughter is bringing over, really good rum cake daughter in law is bringing, and some Almas Pita (Hungarian apple pastry) that I made, and having most of my family over. It truly will be a feast that even a Who would be envious of. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
