Hello all,
Going UTH for our annual fall visit on the 18th of Oct. Have never stayed in the area of E North Shore near Sequoia right off of 18. Two of us seniors so always concerned about safety.
Would appreciate your valued opinion.
Thank you and stay cool...over 100 here in SD but dry.....and Thank God no fires.

All I can tell you is that wherever you are, even in Big Bear, you need to be aware of your surroundings. We do not have drive-by shootings up here or homicides, for that matter, like they do DTH. I have lived here full time for 18 yrs, and I can tell you that I am more concerned for my safety, even when staying on base in SD, than I am up here. You just have to use good judgment wherever you are, and keep aware of your surroundings. I might add that if you open the door and are greeted by a 400 lb furry fellow on all fours, I would close the door quickly!

Thank you Cricket....I follow all that you mentioned anywhere even here in SD. However I may have to budge on the 400 lb furry fellow on all fours since he sounds like an interesting fellow and similar to several I have met in my lifetime....
Sounds more friendly than the characters down here knocking door to door selling solar systems....
We ended up renting on Knight street near village. My friend has a hard time getting around and is now going through Chemo. SO a single story place is a must. We drive around a lot to see the leaves changing and views since walking is minimal.
Thanks for your input. Just saw the chatbox about the two mountain lions....haven't seen one of them in years. Hope to see the wild donkeys this year. And to enjoy the cool weather.
