Summer will be here soon!

Regarding the rentals. I sent a looooooong letter to frank rush, council and obernolte on Thursday. Received a reply less than 2 hours later. I covered everything in that letter from fire evacuation trash noise disrespect and the 94,000 worth of benefits council has allowed themselves for the 2020-2021 FY (rush conveniently ignored that part). In essence the letter tells me that the city is getting a lot of complaints due to rentals. He also said that they will be presenting a revised plan on rentals in the next few months. I told him that this was not the end. Im not going to stop on this issue. He did say that I'f residents want them banned so be it. Hmm I wonder whats going on in the background?

New experience yesterday. Had rental guest complaining about another rental across the street. Renter on renter abuse now. Where will it stop. Can't count on the city or county obviously

Speaking of Frank Rush, he created a new position, director of tourism management.
"[Larry] Vaupel’s duties don’t include marketing for tourism. His primary role is to manage tourism impacts, Rush said. The position was created to address the quality of life in the city as it relates to the balance among full time residents and visitors and the impact of those visitors."

Cool, I think...or just takes the complaints off Rush's plate?
(Apology if ole news)

I see this guy walking behind Rush with a broom and a dustpan. Nice spin speak but I don't feel any substance behind the words. Also, might I point out that these two new city officials, first, are NOT elected and are NOT local in any way shape or form, other than probably owning property in the valley now that they have relocated. Not feeling the warm and fuzzy. And they will address the issues in a few months? So it all fair game through the holidays and we are on out own once again........ still.

Yeah, grain of salt. I do hope Mr. Vaupel took up residence near the bounce ramp house. or a similar rental problem area.

It will be a very difficult position for both of them. They definitely do not have the pulse of the local community .

If I where them I would be doing everything I could to understand how this last summer alone has been very difficult for a lot of us who call the valley their home. I am not exaggerating when I say this this has been the most difficult summer in the last 30 years for me. I never expected when I purchased my home that I would feel like I living in a motel 7 days a week to make my neighbors ability to pay their home bills. My property as well as my neighboring properties are zoned for single residential homes not motels .

For comparison, Crestline (nearest official particulate monitor) has recorded a mere 5 days of "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups". Ozone is a different story...

Mammoth Lakes has had over 10 days of "Hazardous" air quality. It's had an additional 25 days of "Very Unhealthy" and 40 days of "Unhealthy". Basically an entire season of astronomically bad air quality.
