I don't live inbig bear permanently yet however I've been thinking of writing to Rush and the city council voicing my sheer frustration. Ive gotten to the point that I'm tired of being taken advantage of in this situation and I want to get the ball rolling on this. I would like to do a bit of research on these people and see where they really stand on this

Hey guys,
Just got the new news letter from Frank Rush. He mentions the rentals and the tensions it is causing among some in the valley. He mentioned that he would accept suggestions from anyone. Hey, I'm putting in my two cents. Go onto the city of big bear lake website and read it

By the way - -after reading Frank rush's post something really irked me. He said that in July only 7 percent of the people who lived next door to a rental complained and 93 percent did not. I question that number. I'm compiling a letter to him now. Flood the email boxes wth letter people!

MtnGrl, I'll be sending an e-mail also, just as soon as I get my suggestions concisely organized. I question the numbers of STRs Mr. Rush states as I think it's far more than that. No matter what, if any, changes the City makes, it's all going to come down to ENFORCEMENT - - which has been sorely lacking.

Hi BaughHumbug,

Before I send this in to EVERYONE I'm going to have my husband review it. He works for a city and he would know what else to include. I think part of the newsletter is a bunch of horse - (you know what). If you read between the lines very carefully Rush wants to make it look like only a small percentage of people are complaining and most accept rentals.

My gosh, asking for "suggestions"?

There are already a load of regulations, rules and laws on the books which address every single issue we are all having to endure.

Being asked for suggestions is only LIP SERVICE.

Want a suggestion Mr. City Manager? Do your job and stop dancing around the problem..

Re-read, nothing to do about living next door. States that 93% of the vacation rentals recieved ZERO complaints while the remaining 7% of the vacation rentals received at least one complaint. I find those statistics highly suspicious, even before CV19.

I have to agree with statement above about the numbers looking hinky. None of the those numbers look realistic. In any shape or form unless this is Frank's version of Alice in Wonderland.

But maybe this is a sign that the locals are starting to get someone's attention.

Me too, Sportj. I just received this text. "Your ballot for the 2020 General Election was received and will be counted. Thank you for voting!".

I got a text that my ballot was counted! Wahoo! So anyone else who is waiting (after using the drop boxes) it took exactly one week.

MtnTeach - the ballot boxes aren’t third party. They are official county elections office drop boxes.

Dropped off mines directly at the post office, don't need a 3rd party. Ballottrax worked fine for me!

7:30 a.m. Tues - given to mail lady at Crestline Post Office
8:02 a.m. Wed - notified by ballottrax that my ballot had been received by USPS
1:16 p.m. Wed - notified my ballot had been received by SB Registrar of Voters

USPS worked fine!

I dropped my ballot in the dropbox at the Crestline library a couple of weeks ago, it took about a week for ballot tracker to notify me that my ballot had been received and counted.

Yes, I was so politely informed by the Big Bear Postmaster that putting anything in the box outside is no guarantee it will get processed. They even tried to extend that non-responsibility to the box inside the PO. So basically he was telling me my mail no matter where I put it, will maybe get delivered, depending on how the post office feels that day. Amazing.

USFS: Volunteers this past Saturday covered 488 graffiti tags, took out 5 illegal campfire rings and removed 187 pounds of trash along Deep Creek and Hesperia Falls.

The forest partnered with the @MojaveDesertLT and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Great work volunteers! 🤝 [Click Here]

Sport, I believe the only couple I asked said 4 days but I'll text them and ask again. All were impressed with the tracking service.

I dod, however, use the indoor drop at the Post Office rather than an outside box.

Official Absentee ballot instructs us to go to SBCountyElections.com. I dropped mine on 10/17, it was received at the SB County registrar on 10/20.

Dave - ha ha I don't know why I assumed you dropped them off last Monday! Keep me posted if yours is updated any time soon.

We have 3 friends who used the drop box at the Library and they all have been received by the tracking. Dropping ours off tomorrow.
