Hello everyone. Thanks in advance for any help.
Does anyone have experience with or knowledge of this parasitic growth?

  • It is yellow and twiggy.
These are not yellow pine needles, but the yellow growths are parasitic, growing out of the pine bark.
I have a tree in the Boulder Bay area infested with this, it happened pretty quickly, and the tree needs help.

This fungus or parasitic growth has infected one tree, but another tree right next to it is entirely unaffected (currently).

Thank you very much.
-Vince

Looks like Arceuthobium or dwarf mistletoe.
Don't know much about it but i would try to "Google" it for a solution .
Maybe a spray or ? mistletoe.
Good luck

Thanks very much. Now that I know what to search with, perhaps i can make some gains. I don't want this to spread to anyone else. Have a great weekend.

If you don’t have any luck with it you can call Marty Murray at Native Scapes. He is a licensed arborists. 909-547-3894

Thank you for your information, everyone. Here is some additional follow-up:

• I did attempt to call Marty Murray with Native Scapes, and was patched quickly through to someone who was immediately available to take my call.
• Mistletoe (Dwarf or otherwise) is the one single parasitic infestation category that they do not treat (because it is very difficult to eradicate).
• Known tactics to take:
— Wrap the mistletoe in a black plastic bag, as tightly as possible, to envelop the entire area of the branch that is infected. (This from Native Scapes)
— Remove infected branches
— Eventually having to remove the entire tree... (which requires a permit, but I need to read more on this)

Thanks all.

All my trees have it here on red ant hill, stunts growth and swells branches. Reproduces with exploding seedpods that cast seeds several feet when the pods are ripe. Seeds stick to whatever they hit and get washed (slimed?) to the branch by rain, where they sprout. Per a friend from forestry who's familiar with the penny pines dwarf mistletoe study area up 2n10, there is no chemical way of eradicating it. So i cut the deadwood and it keeps us warm...

Just went down Hwy 30 from Big Bear City to Redlands. No issues whatsoever, shoulders have been cleared by Caltrans really nice. It was getting pretty dark, a couple spot fires visible, couldn't really see the damage too well, which might have been a mercy. Only passed a couple of fire trucks, very light traffic overall. The moonlight did make the burnt mountain at the forest falls hairpin turn look like a moonscape. Smelled a bit like smoke after Jenks Lake Rd.

Politics belong on the political forum Hickey.
Christopher. 100% in agreement. The space left for cars to park is inadequate and very dangerous. I wonder what it’s going to take to stop Stanfield from being a parking lot. I hope it isn’t going to be too bad of an incident. Who will be named as responsible is yet to be seen.

I particularly like the crosswalk at the midpoint. That should solve the vehicle problem by locking up the traffic in gridlock. I use the village and it's pedestrian traffic as an example plus the parked cars, doors open discharging those pedestrians. Yep, fun times ahead. Yippee-Ki-Yay

doo... I don't work for CSD, I work for Big Bear Disposal. I don't believe CSD's trucks even use Stanfield but I'll say this; the moving of the lines made all the difference in the world for our trucks. The only problem as I see it now is the parking lane on the east side. I pulled over in my work pickup and parked it. Not possible to open the passenger door. Opened the driver door; impossible to step out of the truck without stepping into traffic. Big fun come snow days!

What?! The 38 is open?! What?! The power is on?! That explains all the cars and people streaming by my house today. And my dogs barking at them all. 😜

Between ⭐️S, I do not think it's that simple. What was previously passed before an election, stays in Vegas (er, stays in place). The rig-uh-more-ROH it would take to alter the preaproved voted-on process would be like, say, e.g.: Obama Care.
Just as an example mind you.

If you don’t like the way Standfield Cutoff turned out, and don’t like the idea of a roundabout, or you do, and you live in Big Bear Lake, there is an election coming up. Make your voice heard—just saying.
