Contrary to rumors you may have heard, the Fireworks show over Big Bear Lake will go on as planned. If you would like to avoid the crowds and watch it from the comfort of your home, Big Bear Mountain Resort will be streaming it live with synchronized music from KBHR. [Click Here]

Subject to change, see what the Governor determines in the days to come before the show.

You have too feel sad for the families, members of the community of the valley that work in the little shops that do not have a choice of staying at home.

Saturday evening on a Holiday? I know that the spring was a disaster for local stores but I would think that a small shop closing at 8:00 pm on the 4th would not lose too much business. If you want to stay home, you can.

Heck, set something up in the shop and watch on streaming feed courtesy of BBMR!

City said they would be pushing the barge closer to the middle to open up viewing as wide as possible. So I am thinking midway between pine knot and the observatory. Not sure why they haven't used that spot before??

As for the comment about good for business. The businesses can't handle what is going on now, how is adding another 100K people to the mix going to improve anything, unless your goal is to piss more people off with poor service (not the business's fault, they are trying), more people pissed off about mask issues, more people pissed off because stuck in traffic. More people being potentially exposed. But we get to see some pretty boom booms for an hour in the sky, so yeah, its all worth it. I grew up on a Navy base, my son is a Marine and no one more patriotic and enjoying of a good fireworks show but WHO THE HECK IS RUNNING THIS WORLD THESE DAYS, THEY HAVE TO BE BRAIN DEAD????????????????????????? Even without the CV19 threat and controversy, how would any of this be a 'good' idea. At some point peoples safety has to be considered and again, I am not talking CV19. I am talking about getting everyone out of the frikkin valley after some putz sets the hillsides ablaze. Hmmmmmmm, haven't heard that thought brought up much when talking about the huge crowds expected, I wonder why?????? Try and convince me that in that mass of humanity there wont be a smathering of PUTZs in the mix, just ready with a roman candle and a bic lighter.

I’ve said before, our greatest risk isn’t a virus. We’ve had more illegal fires this year then confirmed cases of Covid-19. I honestly don’t know of anyone up other than the mayor who tested positive. But I can remember everyone that got sick back in winter. We always have lived with the risk of some nut job burning the town down. Couple years ago Good Samaritans put out spot fires along Highway 38. For as long as I remember, the town has been busy, some years more then others. Heck, back in 90s Bear parked in lot at Vons on one weekend. In 80s and early 90s there was zero enforcement towards STRs. And if you never had to experience a drive on Blvd before they widened it you’re lucky. All that aside, every event that generally goes with the 4th of July has been canceled. The rotary bbq and the summit party to name a few.
I’m honestly torn, I want the fireworks, but not the mess of no restrooms or empty trash cans. Let’s be honest, majority gets to suffer because people still haven’t learned to wash their freaking hands.
I say postpone until all the governing agencies up here can come together and empty the trash cans along the lake, schedule it for weekday so perhaps the residents can enjoy with some peace who’ve already bent over backwards since March

Cool thx. From the deck we've seen only the tops of the big ones! Gold Mtn in the way.
