Like a large portion of Americans I tend to use credit cards for meals. Many people are often turned off by an establishment that will not accept cards. Most restaurants operate on a very small margin. Have you ever wondered why so many dining establishments fail in the first two years? That fine line between profit and loss.

For over 30 years I have worked with a non-profit music camp that operates for two weeks. We do not intend to operate at a profit, only what is needed as "seed money" for the following year. No staff is paid except for the two weeks on site and it is well below minimum wage. Essentially volunteer work with a small financial thank you.

Four years ago I had to step into the position of the camp director. Last year, for the first time ever, we began to accept online registration and had to accept credit cards. It provided us with some benefits but it comes at a price. Three percent was significant enough that we were forced to raise our price for 2020. An additional item is the time that was added to our registrar to track the card payments and be sure they were correct.

So, the next time you go into a restaurant that is cash only and grumble that you have pull out your green instead of plastic remember that the dinner you order for $14.95 might have to increase to $15.75 just for the operator to have the SAME DOLLAR profit, not the same percentage.

Upside.

We will be upgrading the well pump system/new tank, to move booster pump enclosure inside the well pump house. That will give us water pressure 80 foot up higher, so as to have a viable water source in the future, to save itself! Bad design from 15 yrs ago.
Hump that chit,
and make it expandible for 3 more dwealings. 1 dwealing is already here.
PCT renters, almost ready.

UPS and FedEx both use the USPS as final delivery from time to time so in order to make sure you get deliveries you have to put your street address and your PO Box number in the same line. You can't put "PO Box" just the number. So if your PO Box number is 1257 then you would write your address as 21 Main St 1257 in the first line then Big Bear Lake, CA 92315 in the 2nd line. You must have your box and physical address in the same zip code so can't have one in 92314 and one in 92315

Oh man, you guys.
Deductible is more than the abatement hours/service. I do not recommend.
Remember, the Fire Marshall did not believe me it wasn't a fire pit ring smoldering from night before (actuality an ole tree well ring) and called out CalFire investigations. In turn, they wanted the camera system dvd box to review lawn chair hang out times. I now have a misdemeanor court appearance.

We have been having the PO Box issue for decades now. Why can't the PO do something to solve this nightmare (Yes, I realize what I am asking from the local service dept at the PO). It shouldn't take a fleet of people and the luck of Midas to just get a simple package delivered up here these days. Even better when physical is BBC and PO is BBL. Pretty much guarantee nothing is going to make it through.

Check with both Post Offices in BBL in how to deal with Amazon packages. Some people in BBC put the PO's street address and/ or General Delivery as their address. If you do that, you have to go to the PO to pick up packages.

You may have to do that anyway. I have Amazon Prime, and my file said use UPS only. That didn't work. Amazon still sent nearly all my packages to the PO.

The ones that came UPS were delayed up to two weeks. Their system doesn't recognize my address, so it has to go on the truck with the driver that lives up here, and knows my house. He was off work for awhile, so that may have been part of the problem.

Though from what I heard, I don't think it was very cost effective.
