Thanks, Skyline, for straightening me out on my mistake on Godwin's...Ha! We all had it wrong! What a bunch of dumb kids we were!!!

On the Mustang, by Orange do you mean the early 70's Gold?

like this...
Yes, indeed, we used Summit quite a bit, especially going uphill toward the slopes...Moonridge straight to, but not as much as Summit and Hwy 38 out east.

You may recall that Rich Vickers and Jeff Woodruff (friends of mine) lived on west side of Summit next to the Taylor girls...they were a "base" of sorts, and a place to run in to avoid the SO.

Lastly, if you remember my Stang, you may remember Jimmy's Red '70 Formula 400, Jack Bailey's Red '68 427 Camaro, and Pat Bieber's Gold '70 Nova SS...this was the heart of the group...we all had our cars photographed by the SO and they had them posted at the station when it was back of the Knickerbocker tree behind the FD...

Warren...remembering '73-'74

Kind Regards,
Warren

The 70s Weekend nights, up Pineknot then right at Halls, Elks lodge Turn around repeat. Welcome Warren the site has a couple seasoned Big Bear locals on here, Dennis Knickerbocer was a big contributor with old photos of the Valley and memories; he was lot of fun. The history section is fun; the site has worked well during fires when trying to acquire information. The car magnet tree I remember was the one with the bark knocked off was out front of Dongos.

Thanks so much for the welcome, Skyline! I am trying to read every post, because everyone's thoughts and memories are so very interesting...

Love those barkless pines...so much "experience."

Kind Regards,

My dad used to tell stories about driving the movie reels from Blue Jay to Big Bear when he was a teen, especially in the winter. Wish I could remember the details to share! What I remember is many hair raising slides and corners!

That wasn't across Snow Slide Road, was it?
(I don't remember what year they completed the Arctic Circle.)

It was only two lanes at the time he drove it. Rarely and barely plowed.

BBNona sent my son along with all the repertory techs Jersey Mike's for lunch today and Desert Regional Medical Center. My son is facilities directory. She said she was going to do this and I let it be a pleasant surprise. He was surprised and a bit embarrassed but said it was delicious. Thanks to BBNona for your very kind gesture. If you get flown off the mountain by helo this is where they take you. Stay safe and healthy all.

Regarding the Rufous Hummingbirds, I also had one today! They crack me up at how aggressive they are. I call them little spitfires. They are a little shorter and rounder than my Annie’s and Allen’s . I had two stay for two weeks last spring. Also this winter I had four out of my 30 Annie’s or Allen’s hang out all winter. Little stinkers wouldn’t go to warmer weather and I had to bring the feeders in at night and put them back out in the morning when I let the dogs out. I’ll share pictures soon. During snow storms they couldn’t find the little flower on the feeder so I would go out and brush the snow off every 1/2 hour lol. I love them so it’s worth it!!
I’ll be donating again to this wonderful site!! I’m not always logged in but always going on!! Thank you and everyone be safe, healthy and kind! 😘❤️🥰

The painted ladies often get confused with Monarchs. Those will come soon towards the summer. Painted ladies migrating now. Should be a very large migration this year, everyone enjoy.
