Well the main reason they went for the method they did is so they don't have to buy all new trash trucks with the arm, looks like a fairly simply modification to their existing fleet.

My major concern is having the cans out by 6am, usually they come closer to 8am which is fine, but I'm not running out at 5:30am to take the trash out.

I made my own locks on my trash cans, which are nearly identical to the can's they'll be distributing. But they need to come up with a lock so animules don't get into them at night!

Additionally, on my way home today I passed a truck headed for CSD with hundreds and hundreds of the trash cans in the back.... they're here!!!

I still want to know how this new program was put in place without a single notification to the public for their input before any decisions were made.
As i stated in my post on here earlier there are many problems with this program, not the least of which is that it involves a huge rate increase.
Now, you may be thinking that they are not raising the rates (YET), but in fact they already have because they are only allowing you to fill this one can each week for pickup with the current fee structure. If you need more trash can space you will have to purchase another bin to the tune of $200+ more each year or find other ways to get your remaining trash to the dump at your own expense.
The current program allows you to put out up to 12 bags of yard trash and 4 trash cans of household trash each week.
The new program will force homeowners to do their annual yard cleanup and either haul it themselves to the dump, provided they have the means to do so, or pay for dumpsters from the CSD or hire someone else to haul in there, all at additional expense in time and money.
How does this huge reduction in what they’ll pick up each week not add up to a large price increase?
If you are a part timer with property up here and have lots of pine needles have fun paying a lot more money for yard waste disposal or coming up every week just to fill the one and only trash can allotted to you....
Whoever voted for this program on the CSD board without open and public input should be fired, plain and simple. They work for us and are supposed to look out for the public interest. ( yeah, i know, since when do public officials do that anymore, if they ever did).......

I understand that parts of Moonridge got their cans delivered today. The madness begins.

Weed mogs were the really neat machines that were out on the lake every day during summer cutting and harvesting all the weeds that grow in the lake. massive amounts these machines would remove. Then the lake district went with some new super chemical that was the one to save all mankind. Well, I think we all know how well that worked out but no one really noticed right away because of the receding lake levels. Once the levels came back up, weeds impacted everything and the couple of little floating weedeaters left behind just can't keep up. All the good equipment was sold off first couple years of the chemical program because we would 'never' need them again.

Moonridge? I thought this was a CSD thing, or was it on the Bear City side of Division/Moonridge?

Parts of Big Bear City received their cans as well . . . out of the back of a U-Haul truck. I can't help but wonder how many trucks they rented and at what expense.

A portion of Moonridge is CSD. Everything white is Big Bear City. See link: [Click Here],

Me too, Sportj. I just received this text. "Your ballot for the 2020 General Election was received and will be counted. Thank you for voting!".

I got a text that my ballot was counted! Wahoo! So anyone else who is waiting (after using the drop boxes) it took exactly one week.

MtnTeach - the ballot boxes aren’t third party. They are official county elections office drop boxes.

Dropped off mines directly at the post office, don't need a 3rd party. Ballottrax worked fine for me!

7:30 a.m. Tues - given to mail lady at Crestline Post Office
8:02 a.m. Wed - notified by ballottrax that my ballot had been received by USPS
1:16 p.m. Wed - notified my ballot had been received by SB Registrar of Voters

USPS worked fine!

I dropped my ballot in the dropbox at the Crestline library a couple of weeks ago, it took about a week for ballot tracker to notify me that my ballot had been received and counted.

Yes, I was so politely informed by the Big Bear Postmaster that putting anything in the box outside is no guarantee it will get processed. They even tried to extend that non-responsibility to the box inside the PO. So basically he was telling me my mail no matter where I put it, will maybe get delivered, depending on how the post office feels that day. Amazing.

USFS: Volunteers this past Saturday covered 488 graffiti tags, took out 5 illegal campfire rings and removed 187 pounds of trash along Deep Creek and Hesperia Falls.

The forest partnered with the @MojaveDesertLT and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Great work volunteers! 🤝 [Click Here]

Sport, I believe the only couple I asked said 4 days but I'll text them and ask again. All were impressed with the tracking service.

I dod, however, use the indoor drop at the Post Office rather than an outside box.

Official Absentee ballot instructs us to go to SBCountyElections.com. I dropped mine on 10/17, it was received at the SB County registrar on 10/20.

Dave - ha ha I don't know why I assumed you dropped them off last Monday! Keep me posted if yours is updated any time soon.

We have 3 friends who used the drop box at the Library and they all have been received by the tracking. Dropping ours off tomorrow.
