## Press Release from the Big Bear Fire Department ##

BALDWIN LAKE, CA/July 11, 2019– A residential structure fire was reported on Parkway Drive in Baldwin Lake at approximately 2:07 p.m., on Thursday, July 11, 2019. Upon arrival, fire crews observed a doublewide manufactured home with fire and smoke coming from the back of the residence. Crews were able to confine the fire to the exterior rear wall of the residence, the deck and a portion of the roof. Through a swift fire attack, knock-down was obtained within 5 minutes. There was one occupant at home at the time and exited the property safely. A bystander that spotted the fire attempted to assist, suffering minor smoke inhalation but refused treatment from paramedics.

CAL FIRE’s Engine 3558 responded in a coordinated effort with Big Bear Fire Department Engines 282 and 283, Water Tender 281, and Medic Ambulance 282. The incident was commanded by Battalion Chief Brian Parham. Cause of the fire is under investigation by Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Mike Maltby.

Thanks for the cell phone info SNED and Polar. We were checking around different carriers, probably going to stay AT&T who we've had pretty good luck with on forestry areas, believe it or not. Just for possible emergencies, we're not spring chickens any more!

Jilly, I can confirm Verizon works at 34.166788, -116.752112 and T Mobile does not. Just a spot up 1N38 on the south side of 38.

Thanks Doo-hick-way. I am sure I met the inspector at Vons 2 months ago. I mentioned I had not received a violation... must be good? He said no... haven’t been where you live yet and he expected to see a lot of problems. He drives a small white suv. I think a Chevy. I asked my neighbor who is usually at home and he has seen that vehicle around yet. Only asking because I trimmed a couple more trees today in hopes he had not shown up.

I have not physically seen them. But, when I went to Saw Works, there were odd tire tracks at each of my photos from notice to abate.

Doo-hick-ey...have you seen Fire Prevention yet in your neighborhood for the re-inspect process for Baldwin? Or has anyone had a re-inspection here in Baldwin? Thanks

Jilly, HAM radio and Sat phones are the best for back-country, absent that verizon is about the best in the local back country. Depends on rocks and trees, but their signal isn't blocked as much as the others by mother nature. JMHO.. and 40 years in the hills.

Looking for recommendations best back- country cell phone coverage. Pretty much all carriers claim good BB coverage in the city, but we do a lot of hiking in forestry areas. Thanks
