There's been a few "reminders" of the hazards of earth movement. The C.E.R.T. training references the FEMA guidelines which should be reviewed on a regular basis.

remember, you will be on your own for at least 72 hrs, maybe more. The first item you will run out of is drinking water. Store at least 3 gall (3 days) per person, minimum. Remember to have supplies in your car and carry good walking shoes.

Be ready and be prepared

Great reminder NSA! Its been a bit shaky in our local areas this past few weeks. I am going to go ahead and swap out my backup food and water supply (its a couple years old) and re-check all of the other gear in the EQ kit.

Winter can leave now... Lets try to get above 50 degrees???

Several folks here on SCM were very active in BBVCERT in the 2010-2014 era, but then the momentum more or less came to a screeching halt. I attribute this to the turnover of the board as well as a shrinking active membership base. The local chapter also came out with fairly stringent training requirements to retain membership which for a full time working person is difficult to attain due to the number of hours required to get the certifications. It is unfortunate. We do have a couple folks that sit on the MMA (Mountain Mutual Aid) and COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) teams but that doesn't have the momentum that CERT once had.

I was at Costco today the high was around 75. I think we may see some sizeable rain in July. Seems like we are still in a favorable weather patterns we saw through the winter! [Click Here]

The other bit of bad news from Verizon was that older phones (I have an iPhone 8s) are going to have slower service when this upgrade is finished.

That's true, Benny. Nothing is set in stone. It can change. You are the expert when it comes to the weather, so you're a reliable source.

Regarding the Verizon service issues, Instopped by the Verizon store in the Staters center. I was told that towers are being upgraded for 4 & 5 g service. And that it was going to take a while longer. The person who helped me did something to my phone to reboot it & so far so good. Hubby is over there now having his phone looked at. I don’t understand why we customers weren’t told this was going to happen.

Not aware of any fires critter....
Dunno what you look at Quakes but nothing beyond 7 days is reliable, and even then iffy at best. Long range forecast models hinting at our first surge in monsoon moisture towards early July, so we could see some afternoon thunderstorms around independence day!
