THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 4000 FEET FOR HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM SATURDAY TO 5 PM PDT SUNDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
* ELEVATION: ABOVE 4000 FEET.
* SNOW LEVELS: 6000 FEET TO 6500 FT SATURDAY MORNING LOWERING TO AROUND 3500 FEET SATURDAY EVENING...AND 2500 FEET BY SUNDAY MORNING.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 12 INCHES BETWEEN 4000 AND 6000 FEET AND 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE 6000 FEET. LOCAL SNOWFALL IN EXCESS OF 2 FEET IS POSSIBLE AT THE HIGHEST PEAKS. MINOR ACCUMULATIONS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE BELOW 3000 FEET.
* TIMING: LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS BEGINNING AS EARLY AS FRIDAY NIGHT...BECOMING WIDESPREAD AND HEAVY LATE SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING EVENING. SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
* WINDS: AREAS OF SOUTHWEST WINDS 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 65 MPH NEAR RIDGE TOPS AND ALONG DESERT SLOPES.
* VISIBILITY: NEAR ZERO AT TIMES IN SNOW...BLOWING SNOW... AND FOG.
* IMPACTS: RESIDENTS AND TRAVELERS INTO HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR HAZARDOUS WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS AND POSSIBLE ROAD CLOSURES. IF POSSIBLE...CARRY CHAINS AND TAKE EXTRA FOOD AND CLOTHING. TRAVEL WILL LIKELY BE IMPACTED ON INTERSTATE 15 THROUGH THE CAJON PASS LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT...AND AT TIMES ON SUNDAY INTO MONDAY.
* OUTLOOK: MODERATE SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE AT TIMES SUNDAY EVENING INTO EARLY MONDAY. WINTER IS OVER AND SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!

But in short, everything looks on track for one of our biggest storms of the season, and one of the biggest storms on record for March (in the top 3).
What that means for us; rain developing tonight, changing to snow on Saturday with rapidly deteriorating conditions throughout the day with white out/blizzard like conditions into Saturday night (strong winds/heavy snow). Snow showers(off & on) Sunday & Monday, clearing Tuesday just in time for spring officially! Still expecting at least 1-2 feet of snow from this one so be prepared & be safe!
