I've mainly used them to gain an unfair advantage over my kids in snowball fights! It is great being able to move quickly to throw and evade when they are bogged down! :-)

Hubby and I got our first snowshoes from Costco online and were very happy with them. I see the snowshoes Costco is offering now look like they have much easier to use bindings. We upgraded and got new snowshoes last Christmas but kept the Yukon Jacks for visitors. The upper Mill Creek area is great for snowshoeing and we also like Towne Trail. The Woodland Trail is fun too when there is lots of snow. Looks like we will be able to snowshoe tomorrow!

Thank you all for your advice on the snowshoes. I ended up ordering the Yukon Charlie's pack from Costco. My wife was thrilled with them and she enjoyed reading the threaded discussion here too that I printed out to give along with the gift. She'll probably just try them out in the backyard for now (given the recent storms) and then my younger son and I may rent some too and head out for slightly more adventurous trails.

Apparently, snowshoeing is catching on more these days too, at least given the tone of the recent article in the L.A. Times travel section: [Click Here].
