Cool article FlyBoy! Thanks for sharing! I think CERT organizations are also causing an influx as they become more widespread. Thats basically what got myself (and several others in the neighborhood) to get their HAM license. It actually is a great emergency tool, especially if nothing else is working. WINTER IS OVER AND SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!

I used to take it with me on the train and could hit the Santiago Peak repeater clearly even though I was inside a train. I would "call in" (KC7IKD standing by) and not get a response and not hear any QSO's
How many ham's out there have had people call your radio a "C.B."? Well I guess I'll just sit here and blow up then, shall I?
