This seems like good news for the hobby and the equipment manufacturers...

[Click Here] for a nice article from Fox News
on the recent growth spurt in the hobby.

Cool article FlyBoy! Thanks for sharing!
I think CERT organizations are also causing an influx as they become more widespread. Thats basically what got myself (and several others in the neighborhood) to get their HAM license. It actually is a great emergency tool, especially if nothing else is working.

Glad to see this, maybe I should get my HT out of storage.

I used to take it with me on the train and could hit the Santiago Peak repeater clearly even though I was inside a train. I would "call in" (KC7IKD standing by) and not get a response and not hear any QSO's

How many ham's out there have had people call your radio a "C.B."?

Well I guess I'll just sit here and blow up then, shall I?

"a FCC license -- which is free, but requires a $10 to $12 fee to cover expenses."

That reminds me, I needed to scan my license and e-mail it to them so I could use Echolink on my phone!
