From one Craig to another, sounds good Craig!! Are you on the 7.330 machine when in Big Bear?

Kev: I used to be a big CBer back when I was a little kid (probably 12) until I was about 22. Does Big Bear have an active CB community? What CB channel do folks use up here? I have always wondered as when I scan CB frequencies, I rarely here anything except SKIP from around the country on those SKIPPY days....

Winter can leave now... Lets try to get above 50 degrees???

Craig;

I do set the mobile radio to the 147.330 machine when I'm within range. Will be heading up the hill this coming weekend and/or over the Christmas break. The cabin HF setup is currently my Yaesu FT-101E station: 1977 but mint condition.

Craig, I think a lot of HAM's got their start in CB's. As far as an active CB community in the valley, I don't know if there is one or not. When I'm UTH the only time I have CB on is when I'm off-road and I rarely hear anyone using it (generally just other off-roaders talking within their group). When I'm UTH I do try to check-in to the daily net on the Big Bear Repeater (I think it's that one, I'll have to double-check). It's a fun hobby.

Back to HAM radio's, I just ordered a new Kenwood mobile unit which is going to bounce between my new work truck (if it ever gets delivered, been waiting since August!) and my Tow Rig. I spend a lot of time in both trucks time on the highway and especially when I'm on the 10 headed to our office in Phoenix it really helps the miles roll-by. Thus far I've only been using a crappy Chinese HT so I'm looking-forward to more power and better range!

Razz I got an email Spectrum is doing some cable service tonight, but it should be after midnight. Maybe that's why they're fixing it....

Yes this weekend wasn't that crazy at all for a change. Busy enough for all of the businesses to make some good money hopefully but not too busy to drive the locals crazy. The snow was amazing at both Summit and Bear. It got slightly wet yesterday at Bear but perfectly rideable

Just came down the hill via running Springs Highway 330 and not too many cars traffic moving well I remember last year it was a nightmare Presidents weekend so the lack of snow does help speed traffic long! Happy Presidents’ Day everyone
