So, we have this Ham Radio / Scanners Forum here, but it sure doesn't get a lot of attention.
Im curious, how many SCM members (or guests that can very quickly become members in order to post here) are Amatuer Radio Operators?

I will chime in first.

KB0RVB since 1994, 2 meters only, handheld only, Yaesu FT270R. Member of Big Bear Am Radio Club for two years. I try to remember to listen to the BBARC, CERT and ECS net call ins every week.
Without a vehicle yet I've only made it to one BBARC meeting and the annual picnic.

Just thought Id share some of my DX (out of country) contacts with you folks.
On saturday & sunday, On the 17 & 20 meter bands I made contacts in the following countrys,
Mexico, Brazil, 2 in Columbia, 2 in Argentina, Chech Republic, Barbados, The Azores, & Japan.
Pretty good weekend.
Tuesday I heard the bands were opening up. So I thought Id check out the 10 meter band. But befor I got there I stopped buy 12 meter. I made a good 5 9 (thats real good) copy with a guy in Italy.
On the 10 meter band I only made a few contacts. I wasent on the radio very long.
New Zeland, Argentina, & Australia.
Thats about it. 73 KI6SKN

Well, looks like I need to explain a few things here.
First off... You are not going to be talking on a simplex frequency around the world with a 5 watt, handheld, 2 meter, 4"antenna, radio.
The radio I made my contacts on is a Kenwood TS130SE. With 90' horizonal and 80' of vertical wire located 45' up on a tree limb with the north and south ends of the antenna up about 35'
Im running a 100 watts min. Up to 600 watts with the amp on.

If you wish to lookup my contacts.

Goto QRZ.COM (Upper left corner of site) Look up the following call signs XE1CWJ, LP1H, OK7K, 8P5A, HI3K, CU2CE, JA2FJP, HP1/IZ68RN, ZL1BYZ, LU7HW

Did you notice where these people live!

It woke me up. We rarely feel them in our house but this one was a pretty good shake. Must've been fairly shallow. Anyone else feel it?

So lets see- kids were in a tree building a fort, dropped a hammer, hit Goat in the face which caused him to crash into a camp fire where they were making fajitas thus burning his hand and getting fajita all over his shirt! Does that explain it?
