and just for the record it is NOT a good idea to bring politics back.. it didnt work before its not gonna work now.. the site we regulars love coming to was damaged by the politics section and it has taken a long time for the healing to get going.. you are inviting more damage doing this.. it may not come back from this one IMHO i am multi lingual, i can speak English, sarcasm and smart arse!

As we found during the ban on politics, many subjects that are in the grey area of being political were either not being talked about (such as taxes) or were removed due to our self created policy.
Politics cover so many more things than the President of the United States, Immigration, etc. It covers local issues such as Electric Rates, Local elections, Fed Policies, and things of interest to any online community.
Instead of having to govern the topics (which was a real pain in the butt over the past month), we have established a new TOS which governs ALL topics. If you can follow the TOS, then we want people to be able to discuss anything.
I choose to govern the SCM policies and its posters, not the topics, as any topic can violate the rules. WINTER IS OVER AND SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!

craig I again ask if it could be made an opt into site so that those who wish it to not be here can avoide it and not even know it exists. and those who opt in have no excuse to want it removed.
It will be a touchy situation for quite awhile. There are those who resent it's return and will take every oppurtunity to shut it down. And there are some who have an axe to grind now that they can return. I think everyone should just back off and let and let live. I have never seen an issue that should resort to name calling, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I does get silly when someone can't make a valid point and just throws out lit matches hoping to start a fire. The threads are easy enough to spot and avoide if that is your wish. I myself would prefer everyone to just hold their tempers and debate on the merits, and express their feeling on the matter. There are none of us who cannot learn from the other side. And it might turn out that we were wrong about an issue.
....well not me of course, I am never wrong

Ok I've got to put my input in here. I don't think the politics section is what hurt the site. If those that choose to participate in it and go there and want to scream and yell and call each other liars or names then let them be miserable. Or talk civil to each other, whichever. I can honestly say that I never went there...so it never bothered me. If you choose to go there then be pre-warned that you might get upset or start fighting with someone. If you choose not to go there then you will be like me and never even knew or cared that it existed. I know who I can and will talk about that stuff with and I stay away from anyone else. It can be so touchy for everyone. Let them all go there and hash it out with each other as long as it stays there and is not brought into chat how is it hurting anyone......unless of course you go there and start reading and posting cuz you disagree..duh! So as you can see I totally disagree that politics was the big issue here, unless it was with all of you. It sure wasn't with me. Mine were other issues that had nothing to do with that. So I guess to each their own and we shall see... Be nice....talk is fun but can so easily hurt just as quickly. What happens in politics stays in politics....
The problem isn't a matter of not going to the political section, it is that the attitudes there spilled over into the other threads. The nastiness showed up in other threads, and has and will again. Look...it's already in this thread. What doesn't kill me does NOT make me stronger. It makes me anxious, bitchy, and vulnerable...but nobody wants to see that embroidered on a pillow...Lisa Kogan...thx LXL...sorry i stole it from you! Ok, maybe I'm not sorry :-P

butterflyaway I never did understand why anyone would carry their arguments into chat. But I think most of those were long going personality clashes . of course they were in politics but it is hard to tell where it started. I think if they could be traced back most came from other forums.
I hope it will settle down but everyone needs to be able to let things slide untill it does.
There is enough bandwidth to go around and for the most part arn't we all friends? Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I am going to agree with bills grandson here. I also believe it is personality clashes. And I also agree I am not a good one to give opinions on here. Mine are too mellow and I just don't get all this. The people that don't agree or like each other are always going to be like that not just over politics. I've said my peace, so you guys all have at it......Not everyone loves everybody. See ya in the spring....Everyone is happier then.

agreed plus the disrespectful and inconsiderate peeps that continually post certain threads when told not to.. i believe that was a violation of the TOS these are the same peeps that dont come here unless they have some kind of crap to spew.. and now its expected that they will magically follow the rules.. they will still come in this house and piss all over the walls and trolling down your hallways.. i also find it interesting that the peeps that come here and cause trouble are the same peeps that never say happy bday to anyone or offer help to one of the members in need or even thanks a veteran for their freedom of speech that they say gets stepped on here, the same freedom of speech that will be practiced this weekend.. these are current members and a few banned members i am multi lingual, i can speak English, sarcasm and smart arse!

Sun Diego. The CNN report is correct and we here in Georgia are outraged. This LEO is a 7yr K9 handler and SUPPOSED to be responsible. The poor pooch was in the car in the LEO's driveway and not discovered til 9PM. Many of us are calling for his firing and animal cruelty charges filed. LEO is currently on "paid leave".
